Paulina Kurzydlowska is a multidisciplinary artist whose work addresses our contemporary relationship to the image through references to the 1960s Op Art movement. In connection to place and time significant to the artist herself, Paulina’s distorted depictions of the landscape hint at processes of memory recollection, repetition and close-looking.  

Overlaid photography and embroidery designs serve as a self-documentation of her lived experience allowing her to view nature in connection with ritual and memory retrospectively. By embedding her practice within both historical and contemporary contexts, she investigates how an ongoing methodical integration of painting, photography, digital processes and her handwoven textiles relay the distinct visual qualities of Op Art in the present day. 

By engaging in a variety of objects, Paulina’s work encourages viewers to consider their own interaction with digital technology, intimacy and nature in real-time while fostering spaces for a unique observation of artwork from afar.
