Artists Futures Fund was delighted to present ‘Unframed Futures’: the inaugural Breakthrough Artist Fellowship Showcase in 2025
Exhibiting Artists: Niamh Tam, Lily Rees, Lauren Pitson, Dale Hardy, Mia Roberts
Celebrating the 2024–2025 Breakthrough Artist Fellows, Unframed Futures was Artists Futures Fund’s inaugural Showcase. Held at Bankside Hotel’s Art Yard Studio and delivered in collaboration with Contemporary Collective, the exhibition made new and exciting forms of artistic expression available to the public while providing that year’s fellows with an opportunity to share their work with a wider audience.
Through a public exhibition, an artist-led panel discussion, and accompanying short films, the group showcase highlighted emerging artistic voices, sparked critical conversations about the forms of support needed to ensure that all artists could contribute to the cultural landscape, and fostered engagement between artists, gallerists, advocates, and supporters of the arts.

Date & Time: 10 October 2025, 09:30–11:30am
Location: Art Yard Bar & Kitchen, Art Yard Studios, Bankside Hotel, London, SE1 9JU
As part of the Fellowship Showcase, AFF hosted an artist-led panel discussion curated and chaired by Hannah Wallis. Wallis was joined in conversation by Turner Prize 2024 winner Jasleen Kaur, curator Amrita Dhallu, and former Artist Fellow Joshua Donkor.
Together they explored the evolving landscape of support structures for artists—what they look like now, and what they might need to become in the future. From short- and long-term support models to collective and mutual networks of care, the conversation reflected on the diverse pathways artists and curators are forging across formal and informal contexts.
Speakers
Jasleen Kaur – Turner Prize 2024 winner. A London-based artist working across sculpture, sound, and installation, remaking objects from everyday life to renegotiate tradition and agreed myths.
Amrita Dhallu – Independent curator with a focus on diasporic feminist practices, care, and ethno-futurist discourse.
Joshua Donkor – Ghanaian British painter exploring identity and belonging through layered portraiture and personal histories (AFF alumni).
Hannah Wallis (Chair/Curator) – Artist, curator, and D/deaf activist dedicated to anti-ableist practice, equity, and long-term structural change in the arts.
This discussion invited audiences into an urgent and generative conversation on how artists can be supported across their careers.
Fellowship Showcase is presented in partnership with the Contemporary Collective x Bankside Hotel Artist Residency Programme.
